SearchSG provides a comprehensive suite of managed search and discovery solutions that reduce onboarding and maintenance effort for agencies. This includes:

  • Automatic web crawling to ensure search results are kept up to date.
  • Plug-and-play search bar widget and results page for government websites.
  • Automatically generated content labels and filters.
  • Support for website search, SmartRecommend, directory search, enterprise search, and API-based integrations.
  • Intranet search integration is now available in beta, supporting Microsoft SharePoint Online and SharePoint on-premise.
    • Additional repositories are planned to be progressively supported, including Google Workspace, Slack, Confluence, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, SGDCS, RMS for record management and email archival, and API support for custom repository onboarding.
    • An assistance feature that allows users to chat with a single document will be available from July 2026 onwards.

Improved search relevance

SearchSG provides relevant and trusted results across public websites, directories, and internal content sources. This is achieved through:

  • Semantic search and government-optimised relevance rankings.
  • Incremental learning and improvement of search results based on past data.
  • Synonym support.
  • Whole-of-Government result discovery when domain-specific results are insufficient.
  • Relevance tuning for different search contexts, such as website search, directory search, and enterprise search.

Search results features for optimising the search process

SearchSG's search results features help users find relevant information more quickly or find related information which can help refine their search process.

SmartAnswer delivers concise, AI-generated responses directly to user queries using Large Language Models (LLMs) through Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG). It synthesises information from the most relevant indexed government sources and presents a clear, contextual answer above traditional search results.

Each response is grounded in retrieved content and includes citations, ensuring transparency, credibility, and trust. This helps users get direct answers without needing to navigate multiple pages.

Additional result-enhancing features include:

  • SmartSnippet: Automatically generated answer snippets extracted from indexed content, requiring no manual content creation.
  • Related search results: Helps users discover additional relevant pages aligned to their query.
  • Related questions: Assists users in refining or expanding their search intent.
  • Jump-to sections: Enables quick navigation to specific parts of a page.
  • Pinned featured results: Highlights priority or recommended content within search results.
  • Whole-of-Government search: Allows users to easily switch to search across multiple government agencies from the same search interface.

Search suggestions

Search suggestions help users formulate suitable search queries, even when they are unsure of the exact words to use. They include:

  • Autocomplete suggestions.
  • Corrections for misspellings, language mistakes, and misprints.
  • Query support that helps users discover relevant government content faster.

Customisation of search results

SearchSG allows agencies to customise search experiences so they align with their service needs, branding requirements, and integration patterns. Examples of customisable items include:

  • The theme and branding of the search results page.
  • The type of search result filters presented.
  • The ability to embed the results page within a government website.
  • Directory search results displayed in card, list, and map views.
  • Configurable search experiences depending on agency needs and use cases.

Analytics services

SearchSG provides data-driven insights into search performance, user search activities, and behaviour across search and discovery experiences. Specific insights agencies can track include:

  • Click-Through Rates (CTR): Relevance of search results.
  • Mean Reciprocal Rank (MRR): Accuracy of search results.
  • Top Search Queries: Search terms that users are looking for.
